When it comes to your dogs, Outward-Hound Pet Services understands how precious your canine companion is to you.

I want to help owners and their dogs because I understand not only the joys but also the challenges of being a dog guardian are, from a new puppy to a ‘pre-loved’ dog and not forgetting the seniors, I want to help you enjoy being with your canine companion.

Our Story

When I got Charlie from the RSPCA, he had separation anxiety, he would bark constantly if he was left alone, even if we were in the same house but in a different room! He would pant, tremble and pace, never being able to settle, he even tried to claw his way through the kitchen door!

He also had noise phobia, we would dread Bonfire Night – he would be in a flat panic every time he heard a firework, and leading up to November 5th, even a car door slamming would send him into a frenzy.

It took lots of research, and careful work with him, to help him with his anxiety and learn to cope with life… 12 weeks for his separation-related problems, but it took 18 months for his noise phobia! But I am so glad I invested the time and energy into helping Charlie with positive training methods to see him become the happy dog he is today.

Unfortunately, Charlie passed away at the beginning of the year, aged 15, but he left behind an amazing legacy. Thanks to Charlie, I help dogs and their owners, not only in Barnsley, or South Yorkshire, but also from around the country.

Charlie will always be the inspiration behind my passion and I love helping dogs go from delinquents to happy, content canine companions.

“We’ve been coming to training classes since our dog was a puppy. The classes are excellent value for money, we’re always learning something new and you have so much fun. I think they really help you create a special bond with your dog. Joanne’s knowledge is amazing and she’s fantastic at helping you solve any problems you may have along the way. Can’t recommend enough.”
